The Saints wrapped up organized team activities Wednesday and Nick Fairley still was not present.
The 29-year-old defensive tackle has a heart condition that has put his career in jeopardy.
“Right now, where it’s at, is he’s gotten two professional opinions,” Saints coach Sean Payton said Wednesday following the team’s OTA practice. “The first one was one that advised he shouldn’t play football again. The second opinion was a little different, and he’s getting Custom Cheap Jerseys a third opinion, or has already gotten a third opinion, and we’re waiting on that opinion.
“The things we know are this. It’s obviously something that’s significant and serious, and we’ve got to pay attention to, obviously, both for Nick and for the club. We’re hopeful and yet we’re guarded.”
Before the Lions selected Fairley in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, a heart condition was discovered during his pre-draft physical. It was a condition he had while at Auburn, where he was an All-American and SEC Defensive Player of the Year while helping the Tigers win a BCS national championship in 2010.
ESPN reacted to Williams’ statement at the time saying, “We are extremely disappointed with his comments.”
Considering the reasoning Williams was fired in the first place, it’s fair to bring politics into his return as well. After ESPN’s recent publicized layoffs, many argued the reason the network is struggling is because it was too liberal leaning. Some feel like this hiring should halt that argument.
